Regardless of who you are and what you do, consistently striving to earn the position you hold will only make you better.  Personal, professional, it doesn't matter.  I don't care if you are a CEO or a stay-at-home mother, constantly striving for improvement positively impacts your life and the world around you.  Don't look for a handout, earn it.  Simple, not easy.
